Micheal (Mike) Albert Hernandez III is the CEO of D&M Leasing, but he may be best known for his charitable work in greater Brownsville, Texas. Mike Hernandez III established the Brownsville Scholars Program, the OP 10.33 PAC, and the Cameron County Education Initiative. Mr. Hernandez also supports nationally recognized organizations including the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP).
SVdP is faith-based and dedicated to charity, humility, and service. The society is rooted in the idea that people can grow spiritually by serving others who are hurting in some way.
In addition to a vehicle donation program and a popular chain of thrift stores, SVdP operates Friends of the Poor Walk/Run events each year in more than 200 locations in the United States, attracting thousands of participants. Money raised at the events provides funding for SVdP conferences and councils, allowing the society to continue its special work. In 2015, 28,000 walkers and runners raised nearly $3 million for SVdP projects, helping families in need all across the US.
