A Dallas business leader and the CEO of D & M Leasing, Micheal Albert Hernandez III maintains a long-standing commitment to Brownsville, an underdeveloped Gulf Coast community where he has family roots. Mike Hernandez III guides OP 10.33, a political action committee that aims to position Cameron County as a “land of opportunity by October 2033” and improve life for struggling Brownsville residents.

In September 2016, it was announced that the Guadalupe Regional Middle School (GRMS) Endowment Fund would receive a $250,000 gift through the Hernandez Family Foundation. Over the past 15 years, GRMS has maintained a tuition-free Catholic school model, while offering students social support and specialized academics. An emphasis is on making the transition to college successful.

Unfortunately, this has resulted in budgeting on a year-to-year basis, and this is what the significant contribution addresses. The $250,000 donation will also be provided for the 2017-2018 school year, with tax-deductible community support encouraged through its matching grant status. Mike Hernandez III described the grant as reflecting his firsthand experience of the importance of quality education in enabling life success.
